If the air was lukewarm at all the vents, then it's entirely possible that the heater core away the problem. The fan control/relay was shot and the electric fan was not cutting on. I checked the fan by running a + and - from the battery. Fan worked. Try leaving the AC on it will turn the engine fan on Low and keep coolant temps down.
