This isn’t surprising; though written in the 90’s, the principles were based on the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) guidelines, and versions of all the ten principles exist in all modern privacy laws. What is changed, however, is the additional detail about what organizations must do to comply with the law.
