Dec 21, 2018 · Obviously there’s much more to the Model 1 than the dial, but everything on this watch is there to show off the enamel, and with good reason. Very few materials achieve the depth of color that enamel does, and, given the demands of getting it right, anOrdain is understandably proud to show it off. The result is alluring, to say the least.
The hands we’ve designed are unlike any others you’ll find on a watch. The body of the hour and minute hands each elegantly hold a luminous tip, much in the way a hand holds a fountain pen. The name of the company comes from a Highland loch, Loch anOrdain, and the brand’s typography was inspired by old Ordnance Survey maps of the area — the rest of the watch design actually followed the development of the typeface. Older anOrdain watch crystals have six layers of anti-reflective coating solely to the underside of the crystal. Models from 2023 onwards feature a robust anti-reflective coating on both sides of the crystal unless otherwise stated in the specifications.
